Who it’s for

Built for contractors ready for bigger work

Right fit

Established contractors

  • Turnover of roughly £500K to £10M a year
  • You want public sector, framework or larger private work
  • No full-time bid team, or your estimator is writing bids at night
  • You have lost tenders and never found out why
Not the right fit

Not for you yet if

  • You are a sole trader looking for your first small job
  • You want to bid for everything that moves
  • You cannot deliver the size of job you are bidding for
The problem

Why good contractors keep losing tenders

They bid on the wrong workWithout a strategy, contractors chase every tender, spread themselves thin and lose to firms who picked their battles.
Writers who do not understand constructionMost bid writers have never priced a job or run a site. Their answers read well and score badly, and the price is left to chance.
What’s included

Everything from finding the tender to signing the contract

One team runs the whole process with you, so nothing is lost between the price, the written answers and the contract.

01

Tender strategy

We map the buyers, frameworks and main contractors that fit your size and margin, set a target contract size and plan which tenders build your track record first.

02

Opportunity finding & bid/no-bid

We watch Find a Tender, council, housing association and main contractor portals, and give you a written go or no-go on each one.

03

Pre-qualification

Company pack, policies, insurances and case studies organised once, plus CHAS, Constructionline or Achilles accreditation when buyers ask for it.

04

Pricing review

A contractor’s check of labour, materials, preliminaries, overheads and margin, with assumptions and exclusions written down.

05

Quality submission

Method statements, programme, social value and case studies written to the scoring guide, in your voice, with your evidence.

06

Contract review & negotiation

After award we go through payment terms, retention, liquidated damages, design responsibility and JCT or NEC amendments, and negotiate before you sign.

Built inside Craftex first

We tender for our own projects every month

Craftex, our London design and build company, wins its work through the same tender process: we choose the right buyers, price the job ourselves and negotiate the contract before we sign. That is the system we run for you.

Most bid writers are writers. We are contractors who write bids.

  • The same tender strategy and bid/no-bid rules Craftex uses
  • Pricing checked by people who deliver projects
  • Craftex holds CHAS, SafeContractor, Constructionline, ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001, so we know what buyers check
  • Contract terms negotiated the way we negotiate our own

How much does construction bid writing cost?

It depends on the size of the tender and how much of the work we do. You get a fixed fee per bid, a monthly retainer, or a lower base fee plus a win fee, agreed in writing before any work starts.

Do you work on a success fee?

Yes. For the right tenders we take a lower base fee plus a win fee, a percentage of the contract value paid only if you are awarded the contract. The percentage is agreed in writing before we start.

Do you help negotiate the contract after we win?

Yes. We review payment terms, retention, liquidated damages, variations and any amendments to JCT or NEC terms, and negotiate with the buyer before you sign. Where a point needs legal advice we say so and you take it to your solicitor.

Can you help us get on frameworks?

Yes. We prepare the company pack and pre-qualification evidence frameworks ask for, then write the submission.

Do we need CHAS or Constructionline?

Many public buyers and main contractors ask for a pre-qualification certificate. We can get you assessed through our accreditation service.

Do you guarantee we will win?

No one honestly can. We improve your odds by bidding on the right tenders, pricing properly and answering to the scoring criteria, and we show you the feedback on every bid.
