CHAS, SafeContractor, SMAS and ISO accreditation for UK contractors, done for you
We get your company accredited and tender-ready: CHAS, SafeContractor, SMAS, Constructionline and ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001, plus the contracts, payment templates and policies a serious contractor runs on. We did all of it for Craftex first.

For contractors who keep being asked “are you accredited?”
Growing contractors
- Turnover of roughly £500K to £10M a year
- Main contractors or public buyers keep asking for certificates you do not have
- You want onto supply chains, frameworks and public sector tenders
- Your paperwork does not look like a serious company’s yet
Not for you yet if
- You have no employees and only do small domestic jobs
- You want a certificate without changing how you work
- You only need a one-off form filled in
Why accreditation stalls so many contractors
Everything you need to look, and work, like a bigger contractor
One team handles the plan, the paperwork, the submissions and the renewals.
Accreditation plan
We look at the clients, main contractors and tenders you are targeting and list exactly which schemes they ask for, so you do not pay for certificates nobody checks.
SSIP schemes: CHAS, SafeContractor, SMAS
Health and safety policy, risk assessments, method statements, training records and the evidence each assessor asks for, prepared and submitted.
Constructionline & Common Assessment Standard
Company, financial, insurance, quality, environmental and social value evidence organised once and submitted to the level your buyers ask for.
ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001
A management system that fits how you really work: procedures, records, internal audit and management review, ready for the certification body’s audit.
Contracts & payment templates
Client terms, subcontract orders, payment applications and valuations, variation forms, retention and final account trackers — the set Craftex uses.
Renewals & upkeep
We track every expiry date and handle annual reassessments and surveillance audits, so nothing lapses before a tender deadline.

Craftex went through every one of these first
Craftex, our London design and build company, holds CHAS, SafeContractor, Constructionline, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. The policies, contracts and templates we set up for you are the ones we use on our own live projects.
Not a document pack. The same set-up our own construction company runs on.
- Systems your site team will actually use
- Contracts and payment templates tested on real projects
- Evidence assessors expect, because we have been assessed ourselves
- Accreditation linked to winning tenders, not just a certificate on the wall
From gap check to certificate
Simple, fixed fees
Fees are agreed in writing after the first call. Scheme and certification body fees are paid directly by you, so you see exactly what you are paying for.
Single accreditation
One scheme you need now, such as CHAS or SafeContractor.
Tender-ready pack
SSIP scheme, Constructionline and the company documents tenders ask for.
ISO + yearly retainer
ISO 9001, 14001 and/or 45001, then kept current every year.

Questions contractors ask
Free guides: CHAS vs Constructionline vs SafeContractor · How much does bid writing cost in the UK?
Which accreditation do we need first?
It depends on who you want to work for. Many main contractors ask for an SSIP member scheme such as CHAS, SafeContractor or SMAS. Public sector buyers and larger main contractors often ask for the Common Assessment Standard or Constructionline Gold. We start with the one that unlocks the most work.
Do you issue ISO certificates?
No. ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certificates are issued by an independent, UKAS-accredited certification body after an audit. We build the management system, write the documents, train your team and get you ready for that audit.
What is SSIP and why does it matter?
SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) is the umbrella body for health and safety pre-qualification schemes. Its members, including CHAS, SafeContractor and SMAS, recognise each other’s core health and safety assessment, so one certificate can save you repeating it for every client. Always check what each buyer accepts.
Can we use your contracts and payment templates?
Yes. We set you up with the same type of documents we run at Craftex: client terms, subcontract orders, payment applications, variation forms and change logs, adapted to your business. Contract wording should still be checked by your solicitor.
How long does it take?
It depends on how much you already have in place and how quickly your team can provide evidence. We give you a realistic plan on the first call.
How is this different from a compliance consultant?
We run a construction company ourselves, so the policies, contracts and templates we set up are the ones we use on live projects, and we connect accreditation to winning tenders through our bid writing service.

BizMentor Ltd provides business services, education and mentoring for construction and trade business owners. We do not issue certificates: accreditation and ISO certification decisions are made by the scheme operators and independent certification bodies. Nothing here is legal advice; have contract wording checked by a solicitor. Client results are individual and not typical.
